Small Pre-War Kitchen

The tenants of this small, old kitchen had both space and budget constraints. The space was in dire need of repair and updating, however. The sliding doors on the upper cabinets were off their tracks, the large stove and old sink left very little room for counter space, and the open storage shelf the couple had added years before was in dingy shape. The couple replaced their broken stove with a smaller model which opened up room to add a base custom cabinet that provides both storage and counter space. Joanna repurposed the open storage shelf.  It was sanded and painted and doors and a countertop were added to the unit. The sagging sliding upper cabinet doors were replaced with hinged doors and the cabinet boxes were repaired. The old sink was cleaned up and repainted. Even the pull chain lights were refreshed by repainting them and removing structure from them to simplify their look. The newly enclosed refrigerator, new cabinet pulls, and newly tiled floor help to give this small kitchen a fresh life and a sleek, calm, and clean look.
